Core Purpose of the Role
The Research Associate (Level – 9-I) will be responsible for performing analytical testing, developing methods, and ensuring proper documentation in accordance with standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements. The role involves working in the Discovery Chemistry – Analytical division, focusing on supporting research projects by analyzing samples, maintaining instruments, and contributing to overall laboratory efficiency. Key Responsibilities
Analytical Testing and Method Development
- Perform analytical testing using advanced instruments such as HPLC, LC-MS, GC, GC-MS, and Preparative HPLC.
- Develop and validate analytical methods for diverse chemical compounds.
- Conduct identification tests using LC-MS, GC-MS, IR, NMR, UV, SOR, MR, and MC techniques.
- Ensure accurate data generation and proper documentation of results in compliance with cGMP and GLP standards.
Documentation and Data Integrity
- Record all observations, raw data, and analytical findings accurately in laboratory notebooks and databases.
- Upload analytical data into SAP and update sample statuses.
- Follow data integrity principles to ensure transparency, accuracy, and reproducibility.
- Maintain batch records, calibration logs, and test reports as per company and regulatory requirements.

Instrument Calibration and Maintenance
- Perform scheduled instrument calibration and preventive maintenance.
- Troubleshoot analytical instruments and coordinate with the engineering or service teams when required.

- Ensure adherence to Syngene’s Quality Management System (QMS), SOPs, and laboratory standards.
- Maintain high accuracy in documentation and reporting to support regulatory inspections.

Resource and Material Management
- Maintain adequate inventory of solvents, reagents, and consumables for smooth lab operations.
- Support procurement by updating material requirement lists and usage logs.
- Follow waste segregation and disposal protocols as per safety standards.
Required Education and Experience
- Educational Qualification: M.Sc. in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry.
- Experience: 0–3 years of experience in an analytical laboratory, preferably in pharmaceutical R&D, CRO, or API analysis.
- Fresh postgraduates with strong analytical skills and knowledge of instrumental techniques may also apply.
Technical Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in analytical techniques including HPLC, LC-MS, GC, GC-MS, NMR, IR, and UV spectroscopy.
- Strong theoretical understanding of chromatographic separations and spectral analysis.
- Ability to interpret analytical data and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Good command of documentation practices, data integrity, and cGMP principles.
- Working knowledge of software such as Empower, ChemStation, and SAP.
