Job Overview
IQVIA is seeking a Senior Medical Safety Advisor to join its Pharmacovigilance and Drug Safety team in Bangalore, India. The role requires strong clinical expertise and in-depth understanding of pharmacovigilance processes. The selected candidate will be responsible for evaluating safety data from various sources, determining medical relevance, and ensuring compliance with global safety standards. As a senior member of the team, the advisor will lead safety reviews, guide junior safety physicians, and contribute to aggregate reporting, signal detection, and regulatory submissions. IQVIA Hiring Senior Medical Safety Advisor
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct medical review and clarification of trial-related Adverse Events (AEs) and post-marketing Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs), including narrative review, coding, and causality assessment.
- Prepare and review Analyses of Similar Events (AOSE) for expedited cases based on regulatory requirements.
- Review clinical data listings for AEs, SAEs, SADRs, medical history, and concomitant medications to ensure accuracy.
- Provide medical safety input into protocols, Investigator Brochures, and Case Report Forms (CRFs).
- Conduct aggregate safety data reviews for reports such as DSURs, RMPs, PBRERs, and ad hoc safety reports.
- Ensure service delivery with a focus on productivity, compliance, and quality, meeting all regulatory timelines.
- Serve as Lead Safety Physician for assigned projects and oversee medical escalations.
- Mentor and guide junior team members in safety case assessment and pharmacovigilance processes.
- Support signal detection activities and participate in safety strategy meetings.
- Maintain updated watch lists, labeling information, and RSI documents for assigned products.
- Participate in audits, product transitions, and medical safety training programs.
- Provide 24-hour medical escalation support as required.
- Stay updated on global pharmacovigilance regulations and industry trends.

Required Qualifications
- Education: Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from an accredited and internationally recognized institution.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of clinical practice after obtaining a medical degree (residency training accepted).
- Minimum 2 years of pharmaceutical or pharmacovigilance experience preferred.
- License: A valid medical license from the applicant’s country or region of residence (preferred).
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of Medicine and Pharmacovigilance processes (ICSR and aggregate reporting).
- In-depth understanding of GCP, ICH, and international safety regulations.
- Familiarity with safety databases and electronic case management systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to maintain strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and regulatory authorities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple safety projects with high accuracy and quality.
