Job Overview
The Senior Medical Safety Advisor provides medical expertise in evaluating safety data from various sources as part of IQVIA’s global pharmacovigilance framework. The role involves interpreting adverse event data, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting signal detection and safety surveillance for global pharmaceutical clients. Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Medical Safety Advisor, your core responsibilities will include: IQVIA Hiring for Senior Medical Safety Advisor
- Conduct medical review and clarification of clinical trial adverse events (AEs) and post-marketing adverse drug reactions (ADRs), including causality assessment, seriousness determination, and narrative validation.
- Review and medically vet Analyses of Similar Events (AOSE) and expedited cases as per global regulatory requirements.
- Provide coding review for AEs, SAEs, SADRs, concomitant medications, and other clinical data for accuracy.
- Act as a consultant to pharmacovigilance teams, guiding them in medical and scientific assessment.
- Review clinical trial documentation such as protocols, Investigator’s Brochure (IB), and Case Report Forms (CRFs) for safety content.
- Perform aggregate safety reviews for DSURs, RMPs, PBRERs, and other regulatory safety reports.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to quality standards within timelines.
- Provide therapeutic area guidance and lead safety team members in single case assessments.
- Update watch lists, RSI (Reference Safety Information), and other safety reference documents for assigned products.
- Participate in training initiatives, audit preparation, and knowledge exchange sessions within the pharmacovigilance team.
- Review and sign off on Project Safety Plans and Medical Monitoring Plans where applicable.
- Attend client and internal project meetings, presenting safety data and risk assessments.
- Offer 24-hour medical support as required on assigned projects.
- Maintain awareness of current pharmacovigilance regulations, safety reporting trends, and regulatory authority expectations.
- Support and contribute to signal detection activities and safety strategy discussions.
Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualification:
- Medical degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from an accredited and internationally recognized medical school.
- Valid medical license (preferred) from the country or region of practice.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of clinical practice experience after obtaining the medical degree (residency training can qualify as clinical experience).
- At least 2 years of experience in pharmacovigilance or pharmaceutical industry (preferred).
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of clinical medicine and pharmacovigilance principles.
- Familiarity with GCP, ICH guidelines, and global regulatory requirements.
- Experience with ICSRs, aggregate reporting (DSUR, RMP, PBRER), and signal detection.
- Proficiency in using safety databases and medical documentation tools.
- Excellent command of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across global teams and manage multiple safety projects efficiently.
