The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, executing, and optimizing enzyme-based bioprocesses — from the laboratory stage to industrial scale-up. 🔬 Key Responsibilities
As a Research Scientist / Team Leader – Biocatalysis, you will play a pivotal role in enzyme development and process optimization. Your responsibilities include: Research Scientist / Team Leader Biocatalysis Job at PI Industries
- Design and Execute Experiments: Conduct enzyme screening, expression, and purification using advanced chromatographic techniques such as Affinity, Ion Exchange (IEX), Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography (HIC), and Size-Exclusion Chromatography (SEC).
- Scale-Up and Process Development: Lead lab-to-pilot scale biotransformations ranging from 0.1–20 L and purification scales from milligrams to 10 grams or more.
- Optimization and Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve challenges related to enzyme stability, mass transfer, fouling, and resin life cycles.
- Characterization: Perform biochemical and biophysical analysis using SDS-PAGE, HPLC, LC-MS, and UV-Vis spectroscopy.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with molecular biology, fermentation, and analytical teams to ensure smooth workflow and high-quality results.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate experimental records, analyze data, and present findings to senior management.
- Leadership (SRS/TL roles): Supervise junior scientists, plan research objectives, and contribute to strategic biocatalysis programs.

🎓 Qualifications and Experience
Educational Requirements:
- M.Sc., M.Tech., or Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or Bioprocess Engineering.
- A Ph.D. is preferred for Senior or Team Leader positions.
- Candidates with published research papers or patents in enzyme technology will be given preference.
Experience Levels:
- Research Scientist (RS): 3–5 years (M.Sc.) or fresh Ph.D.

- Chromatography Tools: AKTA/FPLC systems, Affinity, IEX, HIC, SEC methods.
- Analytical Techniques: HPLC, UPLC, GC, LC-MS, SDS-PAGE, chiral analytics, and spectroscopic analysis.
