Position Overview

The Data Surveillance Analyst (DSA) plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and integrity of clinical trial data. The DSA is responsible for analyzing operational and scientific data, supporting Data Surveillance processes, and monitoring project-specific Quality Tolerance Limits (QTLs). The role also involves developing Data Surveillance Plans (DSPs), conducting periodic data reviews, and presenting findings to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Surveillance Plan Development and Configuration

  • Support the creation of comprehensive Data Surveillance Plans including Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Quality Tolerance Limits (QTLs).
  • Configure and maintain data surveillance technologies such as CluePoints Central Monitoring Platform.
  • Manage data import mapping for multiple data sources.
  • Create and configure standard and project-specific KRIs and statistical parameters.

2. Data Review and Analysis

  • Conduct periodic data reviews using surveillance tools and other data sources.
  • Document and track findings in relevant systems such as the DS Findings Form and Issue Tracking systems.
  • Identify data trends, outliers, and potential quality issues.
  • Recommend and implement corrective or preventive actions based on data insights.
  • Participate in team meetings, audits, and regulatory inspections as required.

3. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work with Project Leaders (PLs) and Data Surveillance (DS) teams to correlate findings across multiple sources.
  • Support Central Monitoring reviews and contribute to decision-making during review meetings.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams including clinical operations, data management, and risk-based monitoring specialists.

4. Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare and file Central Monitoring Reports (CMRs) summarizing key findings and corrective actions.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all Data Surveillance activities per project-specific requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with ICH-GCP guidelines, regulatory standards, and Parexel Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Skills and Competencies

  • In-depth understanding of Parexel RBQM (Risk-Based Quality Management) and Data Surveillance processes.
  • Knowledge of centralized monitoring and data-driven monitoring methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends and anomalies.
  • Familiarity with SDTM domains, data operations, and clinical data standards.
  • Proficiency in SAS programming and SQL scripting (basic level).
  • Strong working knowledge of CTMS, EDMS, MS Office, and other Parexel systems.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work in a global, matrixed team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Medical, Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in medical, clinical research, or data management.
    • Prior experience in adaptive monitoring or Central Monitoring/Data Surveillance projects is highly preferred.
    • Experience with SAS programming and/or SQL scripting is required.
